Exploring the Potential of Rosa Damascena to Improve Sleep Quality

There is scientific research explores the potential effects of Rosa damascena on sleep-related outcomes, particularly through inhalation and oral intake. Through a systematic review, the researchers gathered and analyzed data from various studies focusing on this topic. The findings suggest that both inhalation aromatherapy and oral intake of Rosa damascena could lead to improvements in sleep quality.
The pooled analysis of seven effect sizes revealed a significant enhancement in sleep quality among participants who underwent inhalation aromatherapy with Rosa damascena. Specifically, the standardized mean difference was calculated to be 2.24, with a 95% confidence interval ranging from 1.01 to 3.48, indicating a substantial effect. This improvement was statistically significant (P < 0.001), underscoring the potential efficacy of this intervention.
Furthermore, the researchers noted that most of the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) included in the review exhibited fair methodological quality. However, it's crucial to highlight that two RCTs reported adverse effects associated with the treatment. These adverse effects included headache, nausea, vomiting, and frequent sneezing, suggesting the importance of carefully monitoring individuals undergoing such interventions.
Overall, this research sheds light on the potential of Rosa damascena as a natural intervention for improving sleep quality. However, further studies are warranted to better understand its mechanisms of action, optimal dosages, and potential adverse effects to ensure its safe and effective use in promoting better sleep health.
